As the festive season fast approaches, South Africa’s charitable spirit is once again put to the test. While the holidays can be a time for friends, family and gifts, there are still many South Africans without the basic necessities. That’s why Steyn City’s calling on all of us to bring a little bit of happiness to those in need through their Pledge a Bag campaign.

If you haven’t heard of it before, Steyn City’s Pledge a Bag campaign forms part of their annual ‘Bringing Happiness to Diepsloot’ initiative. Since 2012, Steyn City along with its sponsors have been delivering a little bit of happiness to Diepsloot each year. Over the past five years they’ve delivered more than 40 000 school bags filled with goodies such as sweets, school stationary and more to primary school kids in the Diepsloot community.

This year, they’re calling on all of us to help out. By simply pledging R150, Steyn City will ensure that you send a hand-delivered school bag filled with goodies to a child in need this festive season. And while a school bag and stationery supplies may seem like a little to some, it could be the tools needed to get a child through school and on the path towards a brighter future.

So next time you’re considering getting that pizza or that item of clothing you’ll probably never wear, why not use the money to put a smile on the face of someone who needs it, and help out your neighbours this festive season.
