See The Island at POPArt
'The Island' is an apartheid-era drama, inspired by a true story. Set in an unnamed prison clearly based on South Africa's notorious Robben Island, the play focuses on two cellmates who spend their days performing futile physical labour, and nights rehearsing in their cell for a performance of Sophocles' Antigone, paralleling Antigone's situation and the situation of black political prisoners.

Love gin? Good, because there’s an unusually high number of gin-related events taking place this Satuday. Head through to Soweto’s Urban Grill, New Doornfontein’s Time Anchor Distillery, Craighall’s Hashtag Kitchen and Bar, or if you simply can’t decide, why not try out this Jozi Gin Pub Crawl? Party safe!
Feel Good at 1 Eloff
The Feel Good Series is a monthly day party that turns up every last Saturday of the month at Joziburg's newest rooftop venue. Expect funk, soul, r&b, house, hip-hop, reggae and world music all mixed with an equal share of classic jams, rare gems and modern day bangers. It's a laid-back, day-time groove that stretches into the evening and will feature guest appearances from some of your favorite artists and DJs. Get your tickets here.

Spend some time at Victoria Yards
If you haven’t already stopped by Loentzville’s new Victoria Yards arts hub, this is the perfect opportunity. Part of their First Sunday series, Open Studios is an opportunity for you to meet their Artists and Artisans and be part of the process. Studios are open from 10h00- 17h00 and Impi Brewing Co will be open until late to quench your thirst and keep you fed. Expect glass-blowing workshops, tours of the space, and live music.
Watch a movie on the Maslow Lawns
Sunday’s are for lazing about with a good movie on, and what’s better than a laid-back, cinematic chill-fest on The Maslow’s lawns? Get your family together, grab some complimentary popcorn, hire a comfy bean bag and settle in for a family movie at The Maslow Cinema.
Take your kids to see Peter Rabbit
Need to keep the kids entertained? Bring them to Killarney Mall for school holiday fun and entertainment in the form of everyone’s favourite rabbit. Themed activities and entertainment around the upcoming Peter Rabbit movie release will have the kids hopping with joy. Find the kids play area in the pop-up kids club room opposite Sheet Street. Entertainment and shows take place from 11am - 1pm, daily, while craft activities and colouring take place from 10am - 4pm, daily.
